I thought for this month’s Drink of the Month, I would finally feature a beer! This is one of my favorite seasonals. It’s beginning to warm up nationwide so grab a pint of this, sit on your porch and enjoy the beauty of Spring.
I love a well-made Old Fashioned. I’ve recently learned how to make a great one at home, but I also like to try this cocktail when out for dinner at restaurants with a craft bar menu. (As an aside, I will probably offend any true bourbon snobs with this post so please accept my sincerest apologies in advance and I beg you to refrain from guilting me in the comment box.)
So I’ve had a slight obsession with St-Germain Liqueur for almost a year now. This French, elderflower delight never ceases to pleasure my palate with its flowery goodness.
One of the first things I do when I step into a bar when I’m in the mood for a cocktail is scan the bottle selection to see if they have this magical cordial. If so, one must immediately check the menu for any bartender specials containing St-Germain. If so, order it. Don’t hesitate. If not, check the knowledge of the barkeep and ask him to get creative and make you something delightfully refreshing. You won’t regret it.
A Shandy. The beer beverage that everyone loves to drink, but no one likes to admit they love. 😉
A Shandy is a beer typically mixed with lemon soda, though some breweries have gotten fancy lately with their recipes. The Germans perfected this style of beer.
