Not “drinkie” related, but since this is also a Catholic blog, I must pause today and honor one of my heroes and truly a saint for our time, the Blessed Mother Teresa. Today is her 100th Birthday. She lived a joyful life, loving others with her whole heart and soul. She defined the modern meaning of service.

She spoke to my heart as a teenager. So much so that I used a quote from her as my senior quote in my yearbook. It was perfect to capture graduating high school:

“Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.”

The people behind her cause for canonization have a website up with information. If you would like to know more about it, please visit:

To honor her today, I’d like you to leave a quote or a story or a thought about this wonderful lady to share with all of us!

This quote is in my Facebook profile right now. It is a beautiful reminder of the meaning of life!

“Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is life, fight for it.”
– Blessed Mother Teresa
